Organisations and Groups
- ABS - Australian Bureau of Statistics - an independent statutory agency of the Australian Government which collects and analyses statistics on economic, population, environmental and social issues. The ABS also operates the national Census of Population and Housing that occurs every five years.
- AfDB - African Development Bank Group - A financial institution consisting of 53 African and 24 non-African countries, which promotes economic and social development in Africa through loans, investments and technical assistance.
- BOM - Bureau of Meteorology - an Executive Agency of the Australian Government responsible for providing weather services to Australia and surrounding areas.
- CDC - Centre for Disease Control and Prevention
- CSIRO - The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation - An Australian Government agency responsible for scientific research. CSIRO works with leading organisations around the world.
- DFAT - Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade - the department of the Australian federal government responsible for foreign policy and relations, international aid (through Australian Aid), consular services, and trade and investment (through Austrade).
- FAO – Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations

- IMF – International Monetary Fund - An international organisation created to promote global monetary stability, to facilitate the growth of international trade and to assist in the establishment of a multilateral system of payments for transactions.
- IOM – International Organization for Migration
- IPCC - Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change - an intergovernmental body of the United Nations that is dedicated to providing the world with objective, scientific information relevant to understanding the scientific basis of the risk of human-induced climate change, its natural, political, and economic impacts and risks, and possible response options.
- Met Office - The Meteorological Office, abbreviated as the Met Office is the United Kingdom's national weather service.
- NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration
- NGO - Non-Government Organisation
- NOAA - National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
- Oxfam - An international confederation of 20 Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) working with partners in over 90 countries to end the injustices that cause poverty.
- Red Crescent - A humanitarian aid society that is aligned with the Red Cross in Islamic countries.
- Red Cross - An international organisation that cares for the wounded, sick, and homeless.
- EUROSTAT – Statistical Office of the European Union
- UNDP - United Nations Development Project - An organisation supporting countries to reach their own development objectives and internationally agreed goals.
- UNESCO – United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
- UNHCR - United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees
- UNICEF - United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund - Now just called the UN Children's Fund. An organisation that provides long-term humanitarian and developmental assistance to children and mothers in developing countries.
- UNRWA - The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East - a relief and human development agency.
- USGS - United States Geological Survey
- WB - World Bank - A United Nations international financial institution that provides loans to developing countries for capital programs. Its slogan is 'Working for a world free of poverty'.
- WHO - World Health Organization - a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for international public health. The WHO Constitution, which establishes the agency's governing structure and principles, states its main objective as "the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health."
- WMO – World Meteorological Organization
- World Vision - A Christian organisation that focuses on the wellbeing of children and uses child sponsorship for fundraising.
- WTO - World Trade Organization - an intergovernmental organization that is concerned with the regulation of international trade between nations.
- WWF - The World Wide Fund for Nature - an international non-governmental organisation founded in 1961 that works in the field of wilderness preservation and the reduction of human impact on the environment.

Treaties and Intergovernmental Organisations
- G7 - Group of Seven - an intergovernmental organisation consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. They are the seven largest IMF-described advanced economies in the world.
- G20 - Group of Twenty - an international forum for the governments and central bank governors from 19 countries and the European Union.
- APEC - The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation - an inter-governmental forum for 21 member economies in the Pacific Rim that promotes free trade throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
- ASEAN - The Association of Southeast Asian Nations - a group of 10 nations in Southeast Asia that work together to promote political, economic, and cultural growth and solidarity.
- BRICS - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa - BRICS is the acronym coined to associate five major emerging national economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The BRICS members are known for their significant influence on regional affairs. Since 2009, the BRICS nations have met annually at formal summits.
- EU - European Union - a political and economic union of 27 member states that are located primarily in Europe.
- NATO - North Atlantic Treaty Organization - (1949-present) also called the North Atlantic Alliance, is an intergovernmental military alliance between 30 European and North American countries.
- OECD – Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development - contains 34 mostly advanced and emerging countries.
- United Nations - An intergovernmental organisation established in 1945 to promote international cooperation.
- Warsaw Pact - (1950-1991) signed in Warsaw, included the Soviet Union, Albania, Poland, Romania, Hungary, East Germany, Czechoslovakia and Bulgaria as members.
