People in Papua New Guinea collecting donations for Australian bushfire victims (ABC News)
The rotary club in the Australian seaside town of Merimbula, New South Wales was sent a donation of approximately $61,000 from people in Papua New Guinea to help the 2020 bushfire victims. In Papua New Guinea's second-largest city, Lae, Sheila Harou saw pictures of the bushfire on the news and was inspired to take action. She started a bushfire appeal which saw people take to the streets pushing wheelbarrows, asking for public donations, while more than 20 organisations also gave money.
